Wiccan beliefs and What Happens After We Die

There is no specific interpretation of life after death in Wiccan teachings. We have some ideas about what happens when we pass away. There is still a wide range of possibilities for your interpretations.

Wicca does not claim to have the solutions to this specific puzzle. No written document, prophesies that are generally believed to be true, or ideas about what the afterlife would be, if anything, exist. Wiccans concur that there is no reason to be afraid of death because it is a normal part of the life cycle.

Wicca is a religion that does not place a lot of emphasis on the afterlife. Although we have theories and are naturally interested as beings, our faith is focused on how we conduct our lives, not on what will happen to us once we pass away. Wicca is all about making the most of our life and loving them in the now.

Let's examine a few of these views, which are typically held by Wiccans.

Wiccan Beliefs in the free spirits

Some Wiccans believe that after we pass away, our souls remain everlasting and unbound from our bodies.

The soul is completely unrestricted after we are freed from our physical bodies and are able to wander the wide reaches of time and space like a permanent astral traveler. You can keep an eye on your kids for generations, or you can just "go to sleep" and never come back to life until you choose to.

Wiccan Beliefs in the spirit world (The Summerlands)

After death, souls rest and rejoin in the spirit realm, another reality hidden behind "the veil." Some people think of this as a lovely rest area where everyone, good and bad, pass through before transitioning to a new form.

Wiccan Beliefs in Reincarnation

Reincarnation is the idea that we will eventually be born again into a new life.

Wiccans also believe that nature follows cycles, with planets orbiting the sun, the moon going through its phases, and the seasons changing. According to these cycles, life appears to come full circle before continuing. Reincarnation makes spiritual sense in this context and is the idea that is most frequently held.

Wiccan Beliefs in Earth-bound Spirits

Because they have unfinished business, are unaware that they have passed over, have gone through trauma or shock, or are "stuck" by their negativity, some souls find themselves "trapped" on Earth. Some souls wait to leave their worldly prison and enter the spirit world or take on new bodies. These are the ghosts and other entities that people think are poltergeists or otherwise haunt certain locations.

Wiccan Beliefs at The end of the line

Some Wiccans held the view that death was the end and that neither ghosts nor immortality existed. The springtime leaves are not the same as the ones that fall from the tree.

When people fall, their life force is reabsorbed by the cosmos, and their physical bodies are ingested by the Earth. The idea of life after death is dismissed as just wishful thinking or a manifestation of mortality anxiety. Dust to dust; ashes to ashes. Any mindfulness that exists has its lights permanently dark for us.

What happens after we die?

According to Heron Michelle from Witch on Fire

Witchcraft has a poetic quality to it, with recurring patterns that reflect reality across time, space, and consciousness. Even if I don't work as a farmer, herder, or hunter, I still have to deal with my own mortality. I acknowledge the final harvest of whatever great work of my personal evolution I have been cultivating since Imbolc at this Greater Sabbat when we celebrate the peak of the tides of autumn and the Earth's decline, as well as the "killing off" of anything within myself that no longer serves the highest good of the new and improved me that I have become.

Being Re-Absorbed By The Divine Source

A well-known Wiccan chant demonstrates how we are unavoidably drawn back into the Divine Source:

We all come from the Goddess;
and to Her we shall return
Like a drop of rain flowing to the ocean.
At some point, when we’re ready for rest,
we return to the Divine Source of all things
and become part of it forever.

The main focus of Wicca's religion is on how we conduct our lives. While enjoying this life, we are curious about what occurs after we pass away. The goal of the Wiccan faith is to maximize the present moment and live in the here and now.
